BURNIE ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our fitness tracking application handles your information.

Information We Collect

Data You Provide

• Workout Records: The workouts you log (type, duration, date, custom emoji icons)
• Calorie Data: Automatically calculated based on workout type and duration using standard MET values
• Weekly Goals: Your chosen number of active days per week (3-7 days)
• Notification Preferences: The days and times you choose for workout reminders
• App Settings: Your preferences within the app (language, appearance, etc.)

Automatically Collected Data

• Device Information: Device model, operating system version (for app functionality only)
• App Usage: Basic app performance and crash data to improve the app

How We Store Your Data

Local Storage Only

All your data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. We do not:

• Upload your workouts or activity data to our servers
• Share your data with third parties
• Back up your data to cloud services
• Track your activities outside the app
• Use AI APIs or external services to generate messages

Your data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it.

About BURNIE (Your Coach)

All coaching messages are pre-written and stored within the app. BURNIE's "personality" runs entirely on your device—no external AI services, no data sent anywhere. Your workout data is never transmitted to generate messages or notifications.

Permissions We Request

Notifications

• Purpose: To send you workout reminders on your chosen days and times (BURNIE keeping you accountable)
• Control: You can grant or deny this permission in iOS Settings
• Data: Notification content (BURNIE's messages) is generated locally on your device
• Schedule: You choose which days of the week and what time BURNIE reminds you

Apple Health (HealthKit) - Optional

This permission is completely optional. BURNIE works perfectly without it.

If You Enable Apple Health Sync:

What We Read from Apple Health:

• Workouts: Workouts from your Apple Watch or other fitness apps (imported to count toward your weekly goal)
• Steps: Your daily step count from iPhone or Apple Watch (displayed in the app)
• Body Weight: Your weight to calculate more accurate calorie estimates (optional, uses 70kg default if not available)

What We Write to Apple Health:

• Your Workouts: Workouts you log in BURNIE are saved to Apple Health (including type, duration, calories)
• Updates & Deletions: If you edit or delete a workout in BURNIE, the change syncs to Apple Health

Important Notes:

• All data stays within the Apple ecosystem (your device ↔ Apple Health only)
• We never send your health data to our servers or third parties
• You control the sync toggle in app settings (turn it on/off anytime)
• You can revoke Health access anytime in iOS Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices
• Duplicate detection prevents double-counting imported workouts

No Other Permissions Required

BURNIE does not request access to:

• Your contacts
• Your location
• Your camera or photos
• Your microphone
• Your calendar
• Any other device features

Data Security

• All data is stored securely using Apple's built-in encryption
• Data is protected by your device's passcode/biometric authentication
• We use industry-standard security practices in our code
• Notification scheduling is handled by iOS, not external servers

Data Retention and Deletion

• Your data remains on your device until you delete it
• You can delete individual workouts at any time
• The app includes a "Clear All Data" option for complete deletion
• Deleting the app will permanently remove all your data from your device
• Scheduled notifications are automatically removed when you delete the app
• We cannot recover your data once it's deleted

Data Export

• You can export your complete workout history as Markdown (.md) files
• Exports include: workout type, duration, date, calories burned, and any custom emoji icons
• Exported files are readable in apps like Notion, Obsidian, or any text editor
• Exports are generated on-device and saved to your Files app
• You control where exported files are saved and who can access them

Children's Privacy

BURNIE does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The app is designed for general fitness tracking and does not require age verification.

Third-Party Services

BURNIE does not use:

• Analytics services
• Advertising networks
• Third-party tracking tools
• Social media integrations
• AI APIs or external message generation services
• Cloud sync services

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through:

• An update to the "Last Updated" date
• An in-app notification (for major changes)
• An App Store update description

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access all your data within the app
• Export your data as Markdown files
• Delete individual workouts or all data at any time

• Use the app completely offline
